What you missed while you were out drinking. (Hint: it’s mostly about the things we put our drinks in).

The Moscow Mule: poster child for the power of the proper vessel.

LOCAL:
First up, a post on one of my very favorite subjects—glassware—from Andrew Bohrer at Caskstrength. It is part of a series called "10 Rules of Drinking Like a Man," but women need to know about faker pints too. Read this!

Another worthy Seattle post: Sean Sullivan of Washington Wine Report profiles Mike Januik and the Novelty Hill/Januik winery. Have you visited that winery? Beautiful design and super tasty wine. Also pizza.

NATIONAL:
If you’re a beer tourist, or planning on becoming a beer tourist, you’ll want to check out this guide to the country’s best beer festivals courtesy of Esquire’s Eat Like a Man blog. [Attention Universe: Women like to eat and drink good things too. Why is there no Eat Like a Woman blog that talks to me about beer festivals?]

Design nerds: The Atlantic.com has an awesome piece on the history of the disposable coffee-cup lid. "The Solo Traveler lid was designed to accommodate the nose and lip of a drinker. In accomplishing this design goal, the necessary height of the lid made it useful for foam-topped gourmet coffees." Tell me more!

And there’s yet another handy vessel guide on GQ.com. It’s a slideshow of beer glasses. It’s very useful (and not just useful to men!)—unless you already know the difference between a nonic pint and a seidel.
