Oh, how we’ll miss you: Red lentil soup and a tomato, English cheese, and pesto biscuit from the Crumpet Shop in Pike Place Market.

If the earthquake kerfuffle does bear fruit, at least one of our waterfront favorites won’t be blindsided.

According to notices posted on its door, The Crumpet Shop in Pike Place Market is temporarily closed for “earthquake retrofitting and repairs and cleaning.” The notes, signed by “the Crumpeteers,” puts the prospective reopening date at April 1.

Calls to the bakery went unanswered—guess those ’teers are busy bolting fridges to the walls.

Considering that one of the buttery sponge cakes and a cup of tea is the ultimate rainy day remedy, the closure could make for a long winter. But! Nosh has found a suitable replacement.
