Homemade goodness garners Volunteer Park Cafe a few new friends.

The new restaurant row? Forty-fifth Street in Wallingford continues to take shape as Malaysian-modeled Satay preps for its opening.

Over on Capitol Hill Thai Curry Simple debuted its takeout window at 12 Avenue and East Madison Street.

BuiltBurger stays open late.

On Wednesdays, buy one breakfast sandwich at Homegrown, get the second one free. Bring a pal or get piggy from 8am-11am.

Volunteer Park Cafe gets a lengthy shout out on nytimes.com for their first-rate homemade goods. Marcus Samuelsson is also a fan, though VPC’s owners are baffled by his references.

More from the cookbook front: Elliott Bay Cafe ’s Tamara Murphy (also of the late Brasa) plans to release her recipe tome Tender midmonth. No word on when Murphy plans to release more details on Terra Plata.

Good news, Renton! You’ve scored a destination-worthy restaurant. Peyrassol Cafe ’s grand opening December 5 was a hit with customers.

From the inbox: The opening of Avalon in West Seattle is imminent. Chef Deborah Breuler’s restaurant will assume the Southwest Avalon Way space of the erstwhile Cafe Revo. The “menu will focus on local Pacific Northwest fare with a touch of rustic Mediterranean flavor; prices range from $7 to $12 for starters and $15 to $22 for entree,” says the release.
