Seastar Puts the Giving in Thanksgiving

John Howie to feed 600 needy families at his beautiful Bellevue restaurant

By Kathryn Robinson November 17, 2010

Swanky digs for needy diners.

One of the area’s most famously philanthropic restaurateurs, John Howie, has announced plans to feed needy families from across the region on Thanksgiving Day. And he’s not just donating food: he’s serving it—waiters and busers and the whole full-service nine-yards—at his creamy Bellevue seafood house, Seastar.

Some 600 diners sent from such organizations as HopeLink and Overlake Service League will arrive mid-day to feast on the classic repast of the day—which Howie tells us will amount to 500 pounds of turkey, 300 pounds of Yukon Golds, 90 pounds of cranberry sauce, and 100 dozen dinner rolls…much of it donated from similarly large-hearted vendors.

Oh, and pie. Tons and tons of pie. (Pssst John! You might want to check out our pie taste-off!)
