Feast of the Week: The Hi-Life

Downright good down-home comfort food in Ballard.

By Judy Naegeli August 10, 2010

The fried chicken at Ballard’s Hi-Life.

What: Family-style Sunday supper

Where: The Hi-Life, 5425 Russell Ave NW, Ballard

When: 5pm “’til the chicken flies the coop.”

Why you should go: Down-home nostalgia is all the rage, and Hi-Life falls in line nicely with a menu of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pan gravy, butter-braised green beans, and biscuits. Come hungry—dishes are pass-around-the-table-and-take-all-you-want—and early—this bird goes quickly.

Cost: $13.75/adult; kids are half that price. Adult drinks are extra.

Reservations: Recommended, call 206-784-7272
