Delancey Turns One, Tutta Bella Takes Top Title

Both pizzerias celebrate by handing out freebies.

Neapolitan pizzas from Tutta Bella.

In our Great Seattle Pizza Smackdown Tutta Bella had us heaping praise on those chewy-but-charred crusts and always-reliable Neapolitan margheritas. Hate to say we told you so, but we were onto something.

In its new issue, Pizza Today magazine courts the local restaurant and names it best indie pizzeria of the year, slicing out 33,000 others vying for the title. Starting on Monday, August 16, all four TB locations are passing out free pies during lunch and dinner to celebrate the distinction. The deal runs through August 22, and consider coming sans kiddos: it’s one pizza per table.

Delancey, with its “ecstasy-inducing” New York–style ’za, also triumphed in our smackdown, and it, too, has occasion to celebrate: Today the Ballard boite turns one, and to fete the anniversary customers will be treated to free birthday cake. All proceeds from the birthday bash will benefit the Demi and Ashton Foundation.

Cheers to both pizzerias!
