The Bothell City Council will decide today whether to approve plans for a McMenamins hotel in Bothell. (The Oregon-based McMenamins currently has nine pubs in Washington, four in the Seattle area: Dad Watsons, Six Arms, McMenamins Mill Creek, and McMenamins Queen Anne).

According to the Herald.Net:
The company has agreed to buy 5.41 acres from the city for $7 million in cash and community benefits.

Plans for the hotel include a restaurant, pub, movie theater, music stage, spa, community garden, pool and community meeting space.

The agreement must be approved by the Bothell City Council at its June 15 meeting. According to a statement from the city, McMenamins would be required to open the hotel for business by June 2013.

The company has already built seven hotels in Oregon, its eighth will open in Portland in winter of 2011. The project in Bothell, planned at the Anderson School site downtown, would be its third hotel built at a former school.

Here’s the crazy/awesome part: According to the article, Bothell City Council plans to approve the project only if it includes perks for city residents, including a 15-year free membership to the pool.

In other news, I’m moving to Bothell. Just kidding. But that’s cool about the pool.
