Capitol Hill Celebrates Pride

Recommended events on the Hill this weekend.

June 24, 2010

We’ve created a map of bars where you’ll have a blast celebrating Pride this weekend, and over on Culture Fiend you’ve got a list of recommended events.

I also wanted to point out a few more happenings that strike me as standouts in the packed schedule of parties on the roster this weekend.

On Friday, June 25, Bottleneck Lounge will have its fourth annual hot dog blessing at 11pm. From 9pm, Po Dog will be providing free deep-fried hot dogs to bar guests. (They’re called Danger Dogs, because they are deep-fried hot dogs and they might kill you on the spot.) The bar has also partnered with Stoli to offer drink specials on Friday night.

Saturday is the Dyke March, and Bottleneck wants you to swing by before or after. From 3 to 8pm draft beers are $3.50 and they’ll be giving away more free hot dogs.

Also on Saturday, Havana hosts its wildly fun outdoor party with lots of DJs and three bars. Dancing, people, dancing! If you don’t want to wait in line, buy tickets here.

More good options on Saturday: Purr and Julia’s on Broadway will both be hosting block parties. Purr’s lasts from 2pm to 2am and costs $12; Julia’s lasts from 10am to 10pm and costs $5.

Getting psyched? See the slideshow for some of my favorite photos from Gay Pride events the world over.
