Find the best spreads, olives, and crackers to accompany your cheese tray via samples galore. $40; registration required.

Dec 5, 4-5pm Fireside Chat with Langdon Cook
Get cozy around the circular fireplace at Studio 1000 inside downtown’s Hotel 1000, where local wild food forager Langdon Cook reads from his recently published collection of essays Fat of the Land. The talk is free and features bites from BOKA, the hotel’s bar and restaurant.

Salty’s on Alki Beach is hosting Santa buffet brunches beginning this December weekend, featuring everything from Chef Jeremy McLachlan’s Dungeness crab and blackened salmon to kielbasa sausage and made to order crepes. Join piano virtuoso Victor Janusz, a life-size Nutcracker assemblage, and the man in red himself as he makes guest appearances throughout the month. $15-$39. Sat 9:30am-1pm; Sun 8:45am-1:30pm.
