Tonight: Learn Things While Drinking

I’ve said this before: Twelfth and Olive is one of my favorite wine shops in Seattle—awesome selection, cool staff, generous tastings. Tonight it’s hosting another of its wine class from 7-9pm, tickets are $20 a person. The class covers: winemaking, proper tasting, understanding your palate, buying wine (navigating scores and reviews), ordering off of wine lists and serving wine at home. Call 206-329-2399 for reservations.
Also tonight from 5-7pm: SAM in the Studio, the fascinating and free series at Studio 1000 where curators lecture on current exhibits at the Seattle Art Museum. This time Chiyo Ishikawa discusses “Michelangelo Public and Private” (more on the exhibit here). Wine is available by the glass but no longer free (that always did feel a little too good to be true), but you still get complimentary BOKA apps. Get there early if you want to score some shrimp.
Oh and speaking of BOKA and things that are too good to be true, the bar is no longer running all night happy hour on Mondays, just so you know. I had to learn that the hard way. Happy hour is Mon-Sun 2:30pm-6pm and 10pm-close. The end.
