Happy Hour of the Week: Garage

For any office drone who loves his/her job—and how could you not love your job in this economy?—the hours of 5 to 7 represent a small gap in an otherwise packed schedule. Choices must be made. Generally, for me, it comes down to this: happy hour or exercise? Guess which one I tend to pick.
So for this week’s happy hour of the week, I’ve decided to get up off my bar stool and actually do something. I’m going to bowl. Okay, so bowling may not have the toning effects of vinyasa yoga or spinning, but baby steps, people. Baby steps.
Every day from 3 to 7pm, Garage on Capitol Hill has a happy hour featuring $2.50 pints and a private bowling lane for $10 per hour. I’m not sure why, but hefeweizen is my go-to bowling beer, and Garage has Pyramid on tap. Fine. Let’s do a little math: There are 170 calories in a pint of Pyramid hefe. You burn approximately 300 calories for every hour you bowl, so, the way I figure it, if you drink two beers per hour you’re almost breaking even. (Baby steps, I said!)
Of course, you’ll have to bowl for a while if you plan on chowing down on Garage’s pizza or chicken fingers, but I’ll be holding off. What can I say? I’m a very disciplined person.
