Tom Douglas Makes Dough
Douglas devotees got a piece of the Serious Pie last week at a pizza-making demo by chef/owner Tom Douglas. The cross-promoting culinary magnate, who owns the petite pizza parlor along with four other Seattle restaurants (and another one on the way), showed off his signature method of pie-crafting while promoting a new line of tools developed in partnership with Pinzon and Amazon.com.
“It’s important that our items are multipurpose,” said Douglas, “like this [pizza] stone doubles as a cheese board…or a spanking paddle.” Oh, Tom.
Working the fire while pitching the sale, Douglas confessed an affinity for a crust with lots of char and let spill his passion for authentic pie without the pretension. “It’s actually a really organic experience,” he explained, letting a pie hover in the oven. “It’s just you, the pie, and the fire.” Sounds good Mr Douglas, just as a long as you toss us a few slices when you’re done.
