Happy Hour of the Week: Tidbit Bistro

• HOURS: 5pm-6pm Monday-Friday
• PRICES: Wines by the glass $3-$3.50; Small plates $1.25-$5
Here’s an inexpensive way to feel like a high roller: go to Tidbit Bistro between 5-6pm on a weeknight, ask for the happy hour menu, and when the waiter wants to know what you want, tell him—with a genteel wave of the hand—that you’ll take one of everything.
Everything? Everything. I’ve done the math for you and the entire happy hour menu at Tidbit, from the 05 Finca Remendio rueda verdejo to the gnocchi alla sorrentina, can be yours for the bargain price of $28 plus tip. That’s right, for $28 your server (tip him well now) will serve you and your party four glasses of wine (From Spain and Italy, all quite drinkable) and five small plates.
If you must pick and choose, I’d suggest the single Crostino con Funghi ($1.25) or the Arancino($1.25), a nicely textured risotto cake with a panko crust. Not every little dish is a home run—the patatas bravas don’t hold a candle to the highly underrated, highly Spain-like wedges at The Capitol Club or the rightfully celebrated, lovingly seasoned version at Ocho. Still, they’re $3 and there’s aioli on top, so complaining seems inappropriate. Even for a VIP type such as yourself.
