Outstanding in the Field
There are still tix left for one of the outstanding food events of the Seattle year—Outstanding in the Field. This series of dinners—the enterprise of a couple of culinary adventurers who seek to reconnect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it—takes place on farms and in meadows and other natural settings across the country.
Seattle’s is this Wednesday, July 22, at the Center for Urban Horticulture.
The chef is Seattle’s gastro-wunderkind, Matthew Dillon (Sitka & Spruce, The Corson Building), who will craft an impromptu feast (is there any other kind with Dillon?) from what’s freshest and finest from the farmers that day.
Dillon did it last year too, at Local Roots Farm in Carnation—but wanted to structure this year’s version as a benefit for Seattle Youth Garden Works, an organization that empowers underserved youth through garden-based education and employment.
If that doesn’t add up to one worthy way to shell out $220…don’t know what does.
