August Street-Food Fair
News from the street-food front: As we speak, the City of Seattle is reviewing its strict street-food regulations, with the aim of opening up the market to the kind of happy street-eatin’ scene long enjoyed by our civic sister to the south, Portland.
(Could it really be true that that much-smaller city sustains 400 street-food vendors?)
No doubt this is welcome news for the owners of Skillet, who got slapped on the wrist a couple weeks back for vending out of an unpermitted Airstream near Safeco Field, among other infractions.
(Interesting, then, that Skillet’s Josh Henderson and the late Culinary Communion’s Gabe Claycamp are working with Nickels to plan a mobile street-food fair for this summer. Think a dozen street-vendors, South Lake Union, August, serving til midnight. Stay tuned.)
And come back for more street-eatin’ news tomorrow…
