Trophy Cupcakes alum Maria Friedman has opened Curio Confections in the U District, and it will purvey everything but…cupcakes.

Her words: “The quaint Victorian…spot will offer hearty goodies such as apple pies in a cheddar-flecked crust, or potpies of savory buffalo, gravy, and ale. Flavorful French macaroons and confections like nougat, goat’s milk caramels, and homespun marshmallows make magical bites.”

All in a circus-tent atmo designed to inspire lingering by evening (yes, there’s beer and wine) til 10pm.
