Happy Hour of the Week: Cactus

I’ve been holding off on writing about happy hour at Cactus, hoping that the local chain would come to its sad-economy senses and extend the thing past 5pm. A happy hour that runs from 3-5pm is a bit of a tease, if you ask me, especially when it’s as good as this one. And I got no time for teases. Still, not everyone’s on the working stiff sched, so if you can get there, I suggest you do. And for those of us who tend to spend weekday afternoons staring at screens, there are always Sundays, when a $5 mojito and a wild mushroom quesadilla can be a cheerful break from contemplating the return to said screens.

If you haven’t been, know that Cactus isn’t serving authentic Mexican food, but rather some hybrid of Southwestern cuisine mixed with Northwest sensibilities about root vegetables and local goat cheese. It’s delicious.

And um, hey there Cactus. Hola. Love the food, love the cocktails. How about keeping the happiness going an extra hour? We’ll make it worth your while. Oh and also, so long as I’m here idiotically pretending I’m addressing you directly, how about putting the prickly pear margarita on the happy hour menu? Because that’s a drink that merits sneaking out of work, if ever there was one.
