SAM Stuff

I just received a press release that TASTE restaurant at SAM is now selling two take-home bottles of wine that were created in collaboration with Colbert-based Townsend Cellars as a commemoration of the sculpture park. Called Masterpiece Red and Masterpiece White, the wines are $23 and $19 respectively.
According to the release: “The red is a Super Tuscan style blend of mostly sangiovese. The white is an aromatic and refreshing blend of sauvignon blanc and viognier.”
In other SAM-related news, I am remiss in not having yet blogged about the “In the Studio” series, a collaboration between the museum and Studio 1000, the wine bar inside Hotel 1000, in which curators give these incredibly engrossing talks about upcoming exhibits while listeners are handed free glasses of wine and help themselves to a table of complimentary munchies that often includes crab cakes and always includes truffle fries.
The next one is Wednesday, May 6 at 5pm. Curator of American Art Patricia Junker will talk about an upcoming exhibit of mid-20th century paintings headed here this summer. Get there early— despite my attempts to keep all the snackies to myself, word seems to have gotten out.
