VIRAL VIDEO OF THE WEEK

I believe it was Leonardo da Vinci, while pondering his early designs for a manned flying machine, who said, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING KITTY? THE SKY IS NOT FOR KITTIES!" (I could be wrong about this.)

THAT'S JUST GOOD PARENTING

Sometimes those baby books just think a bit too much inside the box.

THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

In our commercial culture, we've become so accustomed to advertisements lying to our collective faces that any silver of truth seems refreshing. Nat Geo Wild enlisted comedian Rory Scovel to take advertising honesty to the extreme to promote it's SharkFest programming slate, which run concurrently with Animal Planet's always-popular Shark Week (both begin this coming Sunday, July 5). Scovel humorously delivers a proud and unapologetic speech about how SharkFest's whole intent is to confuse viewers into accidentally watching it instead of Shark Week. It's a brazen strategy, but it's hard not to admire the gusto.

WITH GREAT POWER...

I don't know if you heard, but the Supreme Court made a couple pretty big decisions last week. But lost in the hubbub surrounding gay marriage's legalization and the Affordable Care Act being upheld, Justice Elena Kagan took some time earn some serious nerd cred. When the Court ruled on the case of Kimble v. Marvel Entertainment, LLC. (which concerned patents and licensing fees for Spider-Man merchandise), Kagan couldn't help throwing in some comic book jokes into her written opinion. With lines like, "The parties set no end date for royalties, apparently contemplating that they would continue for as long as kids want to imitate Spider-Man (by doing whatever a spider can)," it's clear that she spent more than a little time thumbing through the colored pages of comics as a kid.

AMERICA, $%@# YEAH!

There may be no better summation of our country than Facebook's top two trending stories last Friday night...
