Perfect Party November 2014

Here’s who we’d invite if we could entertain this month’s most interesting visitors, locals, and newsmakers.

Oprah  The woman responsible for James Frey brings the Life You Want Weekend tour to town, where she’ll Oprah about how Oprah Oprahed her way to becoming Oprah. Oprah! (Key-Arena, Nov 7–8)

Mary-Claire King  The UW geneticist who found the breast cancer gene just won a Lasker Award. It’s also known as the American Nobel, but we call it the Nipping Cancer in the Bud Prize.

John Oliver  Like Carell and Colbert, Oliver has proven that leaving The Daily Show to do your own thing (in his case, HBO’s Last Week Tonight) never works out. Ever. (Paramount Theatre, Nov 23)

The Black Keys
The blues rockers squashed their beef with Jack White (sort of) just in time to embark on a 42-city tour. But, sadly, not in time to convince the former White Stripes front man to open for them. (KeyArena, Nov 1)

Sarah Scott  Coworkers at El Gaucho used to call her Sarita (rough translation: “little butcher of Bellevue”). But now that she’s the steak house’s new executive chef, they just call her boss (rough translation: “boss”).

Steve Ballmer  With the NBA season under way, we’ve forgiven Ballmer for ditching Chris Hansen and buying the LA Clippers. But now that he’s on the inside, he’ll lobby hard for bringing the NBA back to -Seattle. Right, Steve?
