According to The Hollywood Reporter, independent film One Square Mile starts production this week in Seattle, with a roster of Hollywood types—Kim Basinger, Richard Jenkins, Cam Gigandet of Twilight fame—slated to star. I have a call out to Washington Filmworks to confirm the details, but according to the article, the movie is about a troubled son (Kelly Blatz) who receives some life coaching from his neighbor, a reclusive track coach played by Jenkins. (Calls to mind Clint Eastwood’s gruff love mentorship in Gran Torino, but this is probably redemption via running, not yard work.) Basinger is the mother and Gigandet the older brother to Blatz’s wayward youth. This is the first English-language film by Quebec director Charles-Olivier Michaud since Snow and Ashes, which won best narrative film at Slamdance in 2010.

There’s also a call for extras on Sunday, August 19, 9–4:30 for "the climactic track meet scenes along with all the stars and celebrities." It's unpaid, and you'll be working rain or shine, but at least there's craft services (read: free food).

UPDATED 8/14/12. One Square Mile is indeed filming in Seattle—it's one of 10 projects to benefit from the recently reapproved Washington film incentives program, according to Amy Lillard, executive director of Washington Filmworks. She couldn't say much about the film, but did confirm that another incentives beneficiary—romantic comedy Admissions starring Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga—just wrapped production in Eastern Washington (with several scenes shot at WSU and Gonzaga, according to King 5).
