With two shows down and two left to go this year, the Little Big Show benefit-concert series rolls on with Dum Dum Girls and Craft Spells on July 28 at the Neptune Theatre. The ladies of L.A.-based Dum Dum Girls play garage rock with more than a hint of sunny ‘60s pop. Their 2010 debut LP (released by Sub Pop) earned praise from Pitchfork and Spin and opening slots for Vampire Weekend and She and Him (aka Zooey Deschanel and M Ward), and they come back to Seattle as headliners. On the cloudier side of the bill, Craft Spells takes the mopiest cues from ’80s new wave and shines them up, with Justin Paul Vallesteros’s distant, detached vocals balanced by upbeat instrumentals. The group’s latest EP, Gallery, was our pick as May’s album of the month.

Little Big Shows continues to donate 100 percent of the concert’s ticket sales to a local arts nonprofit. Considering the first two shows brought in more than $23,000 combined, that’s no chump change. This time around the money goes to the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, an annual fest screening the best short films and features by filmmakers under the age of 22.
