Sounders ’Til We Die! A Pregame Block Party

ECS hosts the Brougham Block Party this Saturday.

By Seattle Met Staff May 12, 2011

Even Fredy Montero looks ready to party.

Who: Emerald City Supporters—the largest, most chantastic of Sounders supporter crews —invite you to join them for a pregame block party in honor of Saturday’s grudge match: Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders.

When: Saturday, May 14, 2pm. March to the match at 7pm; kickoff’s at 8pm.

Where: Where else? Outside Pioneer Square’s Fuel, a no-frills beer hovel and the preferred prefunk establishment of ESC. 164 S. Washington St. Block party extends to Occidental Ave & S Washington St.

What: Beer garden, food and full bar, ECS membership and merchandise tables, Jäger Girls, and raucous chants and songs. 21+ only.

Why? Even though the Sounders, Timbers, and Vancouver Whitecaps have been competing for the Cascadia Cup—and Pacific Northwest bragging rights—since 2004, this is the first time these local rivals will meet in the MLS. (Portland and Vancouver both joined the league this season.) There’s talk of Portland bringing 500 of its own hardcore fans to the match this weekend— we need to do much, much better. Like, 30,000 better. Tickets are available on StubHub.
