Make Way for KEXP, Chihuly Museum at Seattle Center, says Mayor McGinn

Chihuly to replace Fun (Forest) at Seattle Center.
This just in (courtesy of a press release):
KEXP radio announced today that Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn will recommend to the City Council that the station move to a new and expanded home in Seattle Center’s Northwest Rooms.
… KEXP Executive Director Tom Mara called the move an opportunity to transform the music station into a music center that will allow people to experience hundreds of live music performances each year at no charge. “We have a vision for opening up the concrete walls with more windows around the building to let people take in live performances and watch KEXP’s music staff at work. The vision also includes an adjacent live stage to connect folks to artists in an outdoor setting."
A Chihuly gallery and a children’s playground are also in the plans. We’re waiting to hear what news editor Eric Scigliano has to say; he’s at the press event right now. Check back on Culture Fiend in a little bit.
