If you think you could prune your garden with one of these, you should probably attend today's summer pruning lesson.
UW Botanical Gardens Summer Pruning Class
It may already be the middle of summer, but it's not too late for a lesson in summer pruning. Home gardnes need a good trim to stay vivacious and vibrant, and who could be better to learn from than the staff at one of Seattle's premier public green spaces.
The two-part class includes a detailed lesson at the Botanical Gardens' private classroom on this evening followed by a hands-on demonstration at a private home tomorrow. Attend the lecture to get the chance to see the tricks of the trade in action.

Watch the Blue Angels Practice
When the Blue Angels practice on Thursday and Friday, you're not going to want to be anywhere near I-90. Escape the gridlock and enjoy the aviators' showmanship from Columbia Center's Sky View Observatory.
The Observatory, way up on the 73rd floor, looks out over Lake Washington and is one of the few places in the city where most of what the Blue Angels do will be easily visible. Block off some time to see tomorrow's practices; first in the morning and again in the early afternoon.

Open Air at the KEXP and Seattle Center Concerts at the Mural
The Mural Ampitheatre in Seattle Center has become a Friday night destination, with a free concert to usher in every August weekend.
This week's performers are Tacocat, Kithkin, and a yet-to-be-announced third wheel, but the entertainment doesn't stop there: Seattle Public Libraries will have an outdoor installation at the Mural as well. Find a good book or magazine, enjoy live background music, and relish some prime Seattle sun with KEXP and SPL Friday evening.
Seattle Public Libraries have become home to the thousands of live recordings at KEXP studios, and the two local institutions are working together this summer to ensure Seattlites can find and share live music—both from local bands and foreigners who have graced KEXP's microphones with their sound—easily and without expense.

Civic Boot Camp
This Friday's Civic Boot Camp has already filled up, but Seattle City Club's second August waterfront-focused day still has a few spots left.
This boot camp isn't as physically demanding as the army's, but there is still a lot to do. The schedule includes a HistoryLink-guided tour of historically relevant sites in and around Elliot Bay, a luncheon with a panel of city leaders, and a cooperative civic planning exercise complete with a practice micro-grant application.
Prepare to be better prepared to do your civic duties.
