First Look: Bell and Whete Opens in Belltown
July 14, 2014

Bell+Whete, by the owners of Local 360, is at the ground floor of the 206 Bell Apartments, near the corner of 2nd and Bell.

Inspired by the Anglo-Normans, the space is tricked out with roomy leather booths and various Old World-style trappings.

Heads up! You'll want to grab the booths next to the large garage-door windows (thankfully there are plenty of those).

The drink selection is gin- and beer-heavy, with 63 beers, Stumptown coffee, Marley's tonic and a rotating house cocktail all on tap.

Tour de Viande is the thing to order if you want to sample what's best at Bell + Whete — it's a charcuterie board with housemade sausages, house-cured hams, foie gras torchon and smoked trout.

The boar bratwurst, spicy saucisson garlic sausage, venison juniper porcini sausage and duck and foie gras sausage are made in-house and are a must try.

The Tour de Viande comes with three house-cured hams - Lomo, Speck and Lardo

The black-on-white paintings about the kitchen service window were done by a local artisit and inspired from illustrations in the first cookbook ever printed in German, circa 1485.

Did we mention the patio? It seats more than 30.
