For Today
KEXP Hood-to-Hood Day
Ballard claimed its fifth KEXP Hood-to-Hood annual fundraiser title in nine years last June, and their reward is an all-day party.
There will be prime deals at many local businesses, but the real draw is the music, including a live broadcast at Hilliard's Beer Taproom and shows and signings by local artists.
KEXP Hood-to-Hood Day, Fri, May 30, 11 am, multiple Ballard venues, free to attend.
For Saturday
Rally for Bring Back Our Girls
When Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram kidnapped 230 girls from Chibok Government Secondary School on April 15, new agencies generally ignored the story. Thanks to Bring Back Our Girls, a group dedicated to generating awareness of the situation, that has changed.
Wear red and join the rally at Westlake Center Saturday, May 31 to help spread the awareness. You can also find plenty of information on other ways to help on Bring Back Our Girls' Facebook page.
Rally for Bring Back Our Girls, Sat, May 31, 11 am, outside Westlake Center, 400 Pine Street, free
Seattle Bike Blog found a way to make biking (even) more enticing: Ice cream! Though a ride through Seattle on a nice day doesn't need much improvement.
Join them in Ballard on Sunday at noon for an ice cream, gelato, and frozen custard scavenger hunt en route to more ice cream at the Seward Park finish line.
Bycicle Sundae, Sun, June 1, Noon–4 pm, Ballard Full Tilt, 5453 Leary Ave NW, $10–$15.
Costco Director, Executive VP, and CFO Richard Galanti (the man's got titles!) will be there too, offering some insights from his experience.
