$5 Haircuts at Sassoon Salon
WHERE: Sassoon Salon
WHAT: You may recall our chat with hair visionary Horst Rechelbacher, father of Aveda and the organic product line Intelligent Nutrients, a few days before Seattle's Sassoon Salon opened its doors to the public in February of 2009. Sadly, Rechelbacher passed away at 72 this past weekend.

Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher died in Osceola, WI on Saturday, February 15. He visited Seattle to help launch the downtown Sassoon salon when it opened in 2009, and we snapped this image of him.

The past five years also witnessed a fond farewell to legendary founder Vidal Sassoon; we said goodbye to the man who revolutionized hairstyling with the five-point bob (and who also manufactured my first flat iron, for which we are eternally grateful) in 2012.
That said, there's a lot to celebrate at the downtown salon's fifth anniversary event. The theme of the event is—quite appropriately—the number five, an homage to the aforementioned iconic five-point cut and the birthday itself.
Expect giveaways every five minutes, from $5 haircuts, relaxing treatments, and product packages to the grand prize: a cut, color, treatment, and blowdry.
Even the eye candy is numbered, with five models draped in Paychi Guh collection set to circulate the party.
