Interviews with original 1961 activists, reporters on the story, and government officials working that summer, Freedom Riders details the first ride to the south to fight segregation.

Come early to greet other film attendees and stay after for a discussion on this week's meaningful movie.

Rock the Bike

Sing karaoke and contribue to an organization that promotes sustainability and youth empowerment.

Bike Works teaches people how to ride and care for bicycles with Earn-a-Bike classes and summer camps for kids, and riding classes and repair workshops for adults. Come to a karaoke night and raffle to help get more people out in the city on two wheels.

Get your Freddy Mercury on, donate some money, and maybe win a prize for best performance.

Rock the Bike, Sat, January 18, signups begin at 8pm, karaoke starts at 9:30pm, Columbia City Theater, 4916 Rainier Ave S, $10 donation suggested.

Share the Dream
This Sunday, the Emergency Feeding Program is hosting its annual community concert in honor of MLK, Jr. Free admission to see the Total Experience Gospel Choir and other performers. All donations will benefit the Emergency Feeding Program, an organization that offers emergency grocery bags full of non-perishable food items (and catering to dietary needs when necessary) to families in need.

Eat for Equity

Eat for Equity—an organization that raises money for causes such as health, disaster relief, education, development, and the environment—is hosting a dinner to support the ROOTS Young Adult Shelter.

Located in the U-District, ROOTS offers shelter and food for Seattle's far-too-many homeless youth.
