Five Things to Do Out of Town This Weekend

Julie Andrews begs the Reverend Mother to let her wail Sister Act-style.
-The third annual Gig Harbor Film Festival presents three days of local and international independent film. From documentaries to comedy to gripping dramas, there is something for everyone, including a visit from Julie Andrews at a sold-out gala on Saturday. (In town, you can get your Julie fix when Cinerama’s 70mm Film Festival shows The Sound of Music on Saturday.)
-Strange things are afoot at Bremerton’s Kitsap Haunted Fairgrounds this weekend. The scare experience includes deranged, chainsaw-wielding spooks and bloody sickles, presented by an all-volunteer staff.
-At the Firemen Chili Cook-off and Stomp Party in Redmond on Saturday, you can stomp grapes, go pumpkin bowling, and try first-class chili. It all supports the WSCFF Burn Foundation.
-Tell Me a Story: Skagit County Historical Museum in La Conner invites you to join poet Sam Green and authors Arlene Empie and Bob Skeele for a Sunday event featuring stories of the great Northwest, as well as a unique historical art exhibit featuring more than 100 local artists.
-Oktoberfest is almost over in Leavenworth, so this weekend is your last chance to catch the four live musical venues, bratwurst, and beer.
