Whip your piano-playing into shape, see the mountains of eastern Washington, and get a massage—all on the same vacation. Icicle Creek Music Center in Leavenworth is hosting two musical retreats this fall, and you don’t even have to audition to attend.
The four-day programs—September 21–25 and November 16–20—both include private lessons, a faculty concert, a master class, lectures, and access to multiple grand pianos. Spaces are going fast, with room for only a dozen players in each retreat.
Of course, man can’t live by keyboards alone. When you’re not playing, the wilderness of the Leavenworth area is just outside the practice room. During the September getaway, there’s a focus on fitness: Take yoga for pianists, a guided field hike, and even a workshop on conducting a symphony orchestra. The November program, "Piano Lover’s Spa," stresses massage and relaxation, and also includes a tango class and a trip to downtown Leavenworth.
Participants can stay at the Icicle Creek Music Center cabins or other nearby lodges; an optional meal plan includes dinner at Visconti’s in Leavenworth and two catered meals in Canyon Wren Recital Hall.
It’s like music camp for adults—only with better food, bigger beds, and hopefully a whole lot less drama. Reserve your spot here.
