If you’re gonna get this filthy, you might as well do it at a discount.

The appeal of active.com’s new deals site is mostly in the name: Scwhaggle. Say it again: "Schwaggle!" It sounds like the name of a puppy, or the pimp who works Fraggle Rock.

The site, new to Seattle today, offers coupons on event registrations, outdoor activities, tee times, lessons, and fitness products. Like Groupon, LivingSocial, and other coupon sites, massive discounts are posted regularly, sometimes at limited quantities, ranging from 30 to 70 percent off goods and services. You purchase through the Schwaggle site (but don’t forget to read the fine print).

The inaugural Schwaggle Seattle deal is for race registration to the October 29 Gladiator Rock’N Run; the Kent event features a muddy 5K obstacle course and raises money for autism research. The race was created by the guy who played Nitro on American Gladiators, who "offers no apologies for the pain you will experience." Schwaggle is your chance to get in and get muddy at 50 percent off.

Upcoming deals will be for 60 percent off a paddleboard lesson and a discount on the September 10 Shore-to-Shore 10k in Lake Chelan. Schwaggle will be where to go if you’re down with the Groupon model but wish it gave you a chance to feel the burn, not get a pedicure.
