We’d lay off the Canadian jokes, but the New Pornographers are playing hockey. Hockey!

Got Canada on the brain? This weekend Vancouver continues its 125th anniversary celebrations with a massive three-day concert. It starts today and will include The New Pornographers, Neko Case, Daniel Wesley, and, hottest of all, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Admission is free.

But that’s not all! (It never is.) The event will host games, many of which have ties to Canada’s local First Nations. Coast Salish canoes will race in Coal Harbour (extra “U” up north, remember!), and storytelling and drum songs will be performed by members of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh tribes.

Free shuttle busses will run from downtown every day from 11–11; alternately, you can prep for the three-legged race by running all the way to Stanley Park with your leg tied to that of your friend. Not recommended, though; Vancouverites aren’t above looking at you funny.

Don’t forget, you can always wait until Neko comes here on Sunday.
