All Vancouver, BC, wants for its 125th birthday is for you to come to its year-long party. There are even party favors: a free $125 gift card good for certain attractions, tours, and transit costs. The card is free to parties staying two nights at participating hotels; bookings have to be made by the end of September but can be for any time in 2011.

But what are you going to do in Vancouver after you burn through your freebies? We suggest the hometown cocktail, the Vancouver, or drinks at one of the spots recommended by our own Jessica Voelker.

So go on, visit the friendly Canadian burg on its big 125th, and try not to make too many jokes about being over the hill (after all, Seattle is pushing 150 years old). You don’t even have to bring a gift—your presence is present enough.
