The Seattle literary scene was abuzz on October 12 at Humanities Washington’s 14th annual Bedtime Stories fundraiser. The event, emceed by Nancy Pearl, featured critically acclaimed regional authors who crafted original short stories based on the event’s theme–Red Eye–and read them aloud to guests at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The evening showcased works by Washington State Poet Laureate Kathleen Flenniken as well as Charles Johnson, Kevin O’Brien, and Amy Wheeler, raising more than $130,000 for Humanities Washington’s work: sparking conversation and critical thinking across the state.
