New! Skoah Spas

There's a new day spa in town—make that a few new day spas. Their aim is facial fitness in a no-nonsense setting, and they want you to come check them out on November 21.

When Skoah comes to town, they come to town.

The Canadian-based spa chain opened in BellevueDowntown, and, as we speak, are prepping for a third location on Broadway on the Hill

You're invited to a celebratory housewarming of sorts at the Broadway location on November 21 from 6 to 8.

What to expect? We tried out the Eastside location a few weeks ago—specifically the Facialiscious, which, aside from the sort of silly name, was a good package deal: a customized facial plus what they call a "soothing massage."

Mind you, your aesthetician does the massage, so it probably has more in common with those favors your BFF or partner throws in at the end of a long day, rather than a full-on muscle scrubber.

And that's fitting because the general concept behind the spa isn't feel good, it's workout.

Aesheticians are sometimes referred to as trainers; your recommended skin care regimen is a workout.

The spa itself—judging by the Bellevue location I visited—isn't outfitted to look like a gym per se, but it's also not of the grasspapered-walls and whispering Buddha ilk. The vibe is low-key, easygoing, drop in, drop out. Skoah feels more like a "get 'er done" kind of spa than the place you'd go for fluffing, pampering, and wallpaper envy. You know what I mean?

It's more clinical than ornamented, which could be all the better for skin fitness and body action.

At any rate, go see for yourself.

You'll have a chance to try out treatments and see the rooms for yourself, and get to know this new-to-town company. They obviously want to get to know you.
