What Designer Trina Pierre is Crushing On

The designer Trina Pierre

Every designer has a past, but Trina Pierre’s background stands out amongst others. Pierre’s desire for mom-friendly flexible textiles stems from her time spent as an acrobat in Cirque du Soleil and as a professional figure skater. “This inspired a need for a duality between beauty and comfort,” she says.

The Washington native graduated from Parsons in New York and went on to live in L.A. and Paris where each metropolis's individual trends and cultures affected her take on style and design. The designer now has two children to inspire her chief deliverables: usability and modernity.

Pierre is one of the designers to be featured in Bellevue Fashion Week’s Independent Designer Runway Show coming up this September. Look out for the launch of her online store on October 4 as well as the opening of a retail store in the Laurelhurst neighboorhood.

Best Instagram feed?
I admire Eva Chen’s trend forecasting. She has so many fabulous pictures of beautiful bags, shoes, and clothes! It is great every-day inspiration.

Erin Skipley is my go-to for makeup. She is such a talented makeup artist and always has me looking my best for every and any event.
What item of clothing or accessory has been in heavy rotation this month?
I’ve been rocking my Jeffrey Campbell spiked high tops and Prada Cat's Eye sunglasses all summer. Both are great accessories to add to any basic outfit. I wear them with my Brooklyn T, which will be available in my fall collection.

Celine always has the most beautiful bags and accessories so I’m definitely coveting this Celine Mini Luggage Tote.

I do like finding local pastry shops in Chinatown after taking my kids to Massive Monkeys at the Beacon where they take break dancing lessons.

My husband and I frequent the Walrus and the Carpenter oyster bar in Ballard for our date nights. It has such a great seafood and cocktail selection for a romantic night out.
Where'd you go the last time you got out of town?
I highly recommend glamping with the family at Lakedale Resort on San Juan Island. From fishing and a campfire at the waterside canvas cottage to seeing the native killer whale pods on a ferry ride, this is the ideal Seattle summer getaway from beginning to end.

My husband I love to get down with my littles to my friends Louie and Anane Vega of the wonderful Little Louie Vega.

Either Jeff Bezos of Amazon, who is shaping the future of retail around the world or Blake Nordstrom who is presiding over and improving the longest standing and best high end shopping experiences at Nordstrom.
