Totokaelo by the Numbers

Totokaelo took over the old Everyday Music shop (waiting on the new Azealia Banks album? You’ll be able to find it across the street), but the space, with its 20 ft ceilings and large skylights, was, back in the ’40s, an auto showroom.
We asked Wenger to list some of the new materials used in the expanded collection of offerings at her new store. She says you’ll now find Lucite, porcelain, walnut, okumi, ash, teak, and copper in addition to the cottons, linens, silks, and other materials that make up the expanded women’s clothing. Look for menswear in January 2013.
“Totokaelo is a tightly curated selection of what I believe to be the most honest, beautiful, and interesting fashion, art, and objects in the world right now. It is a collection of ideas and people that I’ve come across while traveling, scouting, collecting, and living: Vintage 1960s optical illusion screenprints I found on my last trip to Milan, Raf Simmons’s final collection for Jil Sander, and exclusive furniture collaborations all under one roof,” says Wenger.
The addition of furniture at Totokaelo feels particularly exciting. That new category of goods includes the Rick Owens HUN line, lighting by local designers Iacoli & McAllister, and John Houshmand for Totokaelo—a collaborative collection of five luxury organic furniture styles. Additionally, you can browse 20 wallpaper options created by Eskayel especially for Wenger’s shop.
