Slideshow: Out-of-the-Box Boutiques
January 20, 2012

SLIDESHOW: Get a glimpse inside two unusual Seattle boutiques, both featuring locally made clothing. Here, a look at one of the displays from the House of Fashion featuring two local lines called Ishka and Kreati-Ka.

House of Fashion is bright, and spacious offering plenty of room to browse. Founder Marta Kappl says that there is still room to add more up and coming designers to her mix. Pictured here are items from her own line.

Kappl, (on the left) and two of her designers use the workspace in the back of the store to create one of a kind locally made designs.

One of Kappl’s designers uses the workspace to drape a custom gown. House of Fashion offers classes to their young designers, mostly focused on the business side of starting a line of clothing, but also including sewing courses.

A look from above down into the Rene Ropas boutique. The white shelf holds fabrics of all colors and textures, ready to be made into a custom piece. The black shelf holds vintage accessories to add to finishing touch to your look. Rene Ropas is Carson’s third business; the name pays tribute to her childhood best friend, Ashley Renae Moffit. The designer was inspired to start the line during her friend’s battle with cancer.

Designer Morgan Carson and her team create all Rene Ropas pieces in the workspace, which is located at the back of the boutique. Here, her assistant is hard at work.

Carson says she is inspired by everything from architecture to a garden hose. An innovative piece is in process here on the dress form.

At Rene Ropas, Carson encourages her customers to join her in "being unstoppable." The clothing, and the space itself are full of spirit.

Here is Carson’s dog, who greets unstoppable guests with a wagging tail.
