Shop It: Pariscope Studios
Where: Northwest Work Lofts at 159 Western Ave W; studio #452 in the Alpha Bldg (just north of Boat St Cafe)
What: The artists behind Pariscope, the local jewelry and accessories studio featured in our recent fall fashion spread, open their workroom for a sale and exhibit of paintings, jewelry, sculpture, and home pieces—notably, lighting structures made by Pariscope’s Elena Korakianitou from found objects assembled into sacred-seeming totem-like structures.
The jewelry is as inventive, dichotomous, and statement-making as ever. Korakianitou and her partner Joanne Sugura mix hard and soft, delicate and bold to dramatic effect. I previewed the sale’s goods a few days ago and can tell you that the most coveted mini-collection is made up of antique lace elements from a recent trip to Greece. The lace is perfectly yellowed by time into a rich cream color, and in Pariscope’s hands, isn’t dainty or frilly at all. It’s been deconstructed and reworked into collar pieces and necklaces that sit beautifully on the neck and collarbone. Very special stuff.
Other artists are also featured in the open house.
When: Saturday, November 19 from 11 to 6 and Sunday, November 20 from 12 to 5
