Where: Embassy Suites Bellevue
What: Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation collects donated gowns, veils, crinolines, and other accessories and offers them for sale during their Brides Against Breast Cancer events. The fundraising effort benefits men and women battling stage IV breast cancer.
At the sale you’ll find designer and famous maker wedding fashion; gowns start at just $199. You can expect the dresses to run the gambit of styles and silhouettes; organizers say some of the gowns were originally valued at $8,000. Retailers, designers, and individuals alike donate to the organization, so gowns might be runway samples, showroom models, or once-worn treasures.
When: VIP Champagne brunch is Friday, October 28 from 10 to noon and costs others $15 to get in. We have ten pairs of tickets to give away for this first dibs breakfast-and-mimosas sneak peek.
The first ten people to email wearwhatwhen @ seattlemet.com with BRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER as the subject line will be granted free entry, and a chance to find the dress of their dreams in a relatively low-key environment (read; not the all-out shop-a-thon of general admission), on Friday. Include your first and last name in the email; entries must be received by Thursday, October 27 at noon; winners will be notified by email.
The regular sale resumes on Friday at noon, after the brunch, and goes until 6. It then continues on Saturday, October 29 from 10 to 4. Admission is free.
