From the Runway: Sorella Spa and Salon
SLIDESHOW: Issaquah’s Sorella Salon and Spa assisted with hair and makeup at a recent New York fashion show for the classic Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo. "The designer requested that the models look like they were at the pool all day and just pulled their hair back to go to a fancy dinner," says Reasy Woodward.
"Massimiliano Giornetti wanted a not-so-perfect, but also not-too-messy chignon," she says, "so we flat ironed and then pulled hair into the perfect bun."
Stylists used a "significant amount" of Oribe’s Original Pomade to execute the vision.
Reasy Woodward says the makeup look was "natural with quite a bit of shine and shades of silvers. The final touch was silver nail polish. This complimented the variety of blues in the collection: navy, pale blue, royal blue, and periwinkle, as well as creams and silvers." With so much glamor and glitz happening in the actual fabrics and runway pieces, it’s easy to understand why the Ferragamo team wanted the hair to be relatively simple and low-key. It’s a good take-away for any bride: the best looks are balanced. A little restraint is always a beautiful thing.
They do look like they spent the day at Alki and are now headed to RN74, don’t they?
The show took place in what was heiress Doris Duke’s New York City mansion; the runway was the grand staircase. "The trend for next year is to have somewhat of a non-greasy shine; another thing to note is that chignons are going to be hot this fall and winter," says Woodward.
Reasy Woodward says she expects more women to be requesting a look that’s "less intricate, more modest, yet very elegant." She says the trend in makeup is similar: "very clean, effortless and timeless, like Grace Kelly."
But the Sorella team cautions that that doesn’t always translate to ‘easy.’ "Non-embellished, unfussy styles, although seemingly uncomplicated, are actually intricate and involved," she told us.
