Slide Show: Curtis Steiner’s New Ballard Shop

Among salvaged turn-of-the-century carnival accents and gorgeously restored antique jewelry at Curtis Steiner’s eponymous Ballard shop, you’ll also find the owner’s meticulously crafted, delicate gemstone jewelry. This necklace is made with Czech, Italian, and French beads from the 1800s, garnet, and antique Japanese glass-headed brass pins.

Many of Steiner’s pieces seem to float on the body. Here, antique embroidery floss from Japan is bundled with tiny pearls and tied along a nylon string. The chalcedony pendant grounds them.
