Name Game

West Seattle photography studio and kids’ shop is crowdsourcing their branding.

By Seattle Met Staff December 16, 2010

What’s in a name? Hard to answer. What’s in an unnamed store? If you’re talking about the one Donna Ryan presides over, the answer is adorable kids stuff.

Now this is kind of fun: Think you’ve got a knack for names? Donna Ryan Photography, a relatively new-ish kids portrait studio and apparel, gifts, and fun-stuff boutique in West Seattle wants you. The shop, which occupies the space left vacant by Swee Swee Paperie is currently called Donna Ryan Photography, but they’re in the market for something … well, better.

We can’t think of a local business that has crowdsourced their identity — can you? And, get this: Ryan is offering a $500 gift certificate to whomever comes up with the best name.

Want to get a feel for the joint before you start mulling over alliterations and funky word play or getting all Harvard Business School on your submission? Head to Donna Ryan on December 19 between 11 and 3 with the little ones and get a Santa picture for a $15 donation. Proceeds to go West Seattle charities.

Name submissions must be emailed to dderousie @ comcast.net by January 1, 2011 to be considered.
