Hainstock has been working as a commercial/scenic artist since she graduated from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, but first began selling her jewelry at the inaugural Urban Craft Uprising event. “It was such an eclectic event with so many unique folks selling objects that were one of a kind. It was much more successful than we anticipated…at one point there were so many shoppers we were literally trapped behind our booth!"
Etsyrain and the local indie craft market has been a huge inspiration. I’ve learned so much from these folks. It’s so great to go out to a community show and see people participating in the workshops for the first time. We are definitely in the midst of a DIY era. It’s inspiring to see so many local shops promoting handmade,” says Hainstock when asked how living and working in Seattle informs what she does.
Hainstock says her inspiration is “unusual combinations, objects that make me laugh, technology used creatively, economy of materials, happy accidents, simple solutions, color, shape, and texture, and an object being worth its design and not the current market value of its materials.”
This laser-cut leather octopus necklace is available in the etsy shop now; Hainstock’s excited about the launch of her new line of necklaces.
The reversible ribcage cuff in metallic and saturated colors (it also comes in orange) is Trilby’s best bet for fall.
