One for Her, One for You

Take one down, pass it around; handbag goodwill at Clutch
I know. I get it. Sometimes, all things considered, it just doesn’t seem prudent to treat yourself. Or rather, the platform peep-toe under your foot feels so good, the slouchy, gauzy sweater on your shoulders feels so right, but there’s that nagging sense of … the rest of the world.
I love it when retailers find a way to make indulgences a bit more guilt-free. You do, too? Here’s the word on three guiltless shopportunities:
Where: Clutch
What: Bi-Annual Dress for Success Handbag Drive. Bring in a decent-condition used handbag to donate and receive 25 percent off a new one.
When: Today! Thursday June 24 (Refreshments and giveaways – aka the party starts at 4 but the offer is valid all day) The shop is open late tonight; you’ve got til 7 to make the score.
Where: Click! Design that Fits
What: Take a 20 percent discount on any handbag in the store (including new arrivals from Orla Kiely and Queen Bee Creations) when you bring a gently used handbag to donate to The Ruby Room, a local non-profit that gives free dresses and accessories to low income teens with the belief that proms and other school dances are an important part a teenager’s life, and everyone should be able to participate and feel beautiful. (The organization says that if your bag doesn’t feel teenager-friendly they will sell it at Cherry Consignment and the money made from the sale will still go toward the Ruby Room’s work.)
When: Friday June 25 from 6 to 9
Where: Olivine online
What: Every time anyone spends more than $200, owner Julie Wray will donate a Project Night Night bag to a child in a homeless shelter. Night Night bags include a tote bag with a security blanket, an age-appropriate book (often the first book the child has owned), and a stuffed animal — invaluable comforts to children and parents who have no home.
When: Throughout the month of July
