Watch the Knees, Please

Well, here’s something that wasn’t around in my day. Local designer and mom Wendy Feller dreamt up Zupers, a little girl’s legging made of yoga pant-type material that comes with a pair of heart shaped knee-pads that tuck into a hidden knee pocket, because, you know, girls are rough and tumble, and sometimes things happen.
Feller isn’t new to design. You’ll infer this when you see the great prints she uses. She’s a knitter and a thing-maker, and previously, she had a line of sweaters that was sold at Barney’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks, and other fashion-minded luxury department stores. Feller is also a mom, with a little girl who, we may assume, is rough and tumble even when she’s wearing girly dresses. Zupers had to be invented to outfit this savvy adventurer, and they had to be made to outfit yours — whether she’s six months or six years old.

Now, in the past, the heading above — Locally Made — has been used to denote items that are fabricated here in Seattle. Zupers are designed by Feller here, and sewn in L.A., so please adjust your expectations.
For the time being, Zupers are sold online, but it surely won’t be long before the local little kid shops pick them up. Stay tuned.
