Who Wear What When

Summer Style: Cloudy, Chance of Rain

The bag might have gone to Woodstock; the tights were borrowed from Wonder Woman

June 24, 2009

Last Friday was a textbook June day in Seattle; cool, kinda cloudy, random rolling patches of clear blue sky and intermittent drizzle spiked by hair-frizzing humidity. All this 80 degrees and sunny stuff has been great, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t have much to do with the Seattle summers we know but usually wait til July to love.

When I saw this woman confidently slicing her way through Pioneer Square in Wonder Woman-blue tights last week, I thought, Well now, there’s a woman who knows how to brighten the day.

I like that the look feels slightly thrown together but purposeful at the same time. From the oversize sunglasses (two of my favorite words), strong and arty necklace (in cahoots with the superhero legs), suede and leather bag (I bet that thing heard Jimi Hendrix soloing at Woodstock), and knit skirt to those bright stockings and signature boots, it’s an all-season look perfectly suited for you-never-know-quite-what-to-expect Seattle. Turns out Emily works at Davidson Galleries, and is an artist and a blogger.
