While scouting around my neighborhood thrift stores this weekend, I found this amazing blanket coat from United Benetton. It’s all about the sleeve, and the mash-up of preppy stripes and tones. I’d put it at 1986 or so — although it’s as current as the coming season, too. Let’s all take a minute to revisit and re-anticipate the F/W09 Chloe collection swooned over here.

So, counting this one, the Chloe example, and this New Year’s resolution post from way back, that’s three blanket-coat mentions in just four months. Hm.

I guess I can admit to being pretty obsessed with draped knitwear and sweaters-as-coats and in general, duster-length outerwear. Too bad spring is more or less finally here. Did I just say that? No, I’m glad spring is here. I am. Very very glad. But in light of this latest find, I don’t necessarily mind that, for the time being, consistently warm weather remains just a vague, hoped-about notion …
