This month’s Spree page features musical instruments—just the thing, of course, for an entire issue dedicated to the music scene in Seattle.

This here is my bass guitar, which I love like a cousin or an old friend from summer camp. Too much emotion for an inanimate object? No way. This thing, because of me, through no fault of its own, has made monumental mistakes and embarrassing goofs and on the rare occasions when I’ve made it through without messing up, it’s been there too. And it’s just so pretty—to look at and to listen to (though it’s prettier when someone besides me is playing it). Plus, my old man brought it home quite unexpectedly one evening from Bass Northwest on Pioneer Square during our first year together. I don’t practice as often as I should—but I’m finding this month’s issue to be pretty darn inspiring…
